My situation was a little different. I grew up hating to read even though my dad was the author of over 70 books. My professional career had been devoted to the production of dramatic films, video programs, and TV commercials. Then 9/11 wiped out most of my clients and I was faced with what should I do next? Having grown up as a struggling reader, I didn't see myself as a writer, but pressed on anyway. The first manuscript was pure misery. Then I found, after getting that one out of the way, the next and the next and the next became easier.
Thirty-five manuscripts later, 10 books published, and 10 more due out this year, I'm glad I kept at it.

This is a very inspirational post! Sometimes it's easy to forget as writers that not everyone is a willing reader. But great stories can encourage reading!
My grandsons love your books. I give them for Christmas and although they're teens now, they still enjoy them.
